A GROUP of dancers in Yate are celebrating their first set of exam results following new leadership.

Students at the Stapleton School of Dance, based at the Ridgewood Community Centre, had their first exam session since the appointment of new principal Amy Norcombe in March.

The 81 students who took the exams in ballet, tap modern and jazz on March 14 and 15 all passed with 32 distinction results, 33 merits and 16 passes.

Miss Norcombe, said: “The school has been running for 72 years and has recently been taken over by myself last April.

“All students passed with flying colours, I am so proud of all the students at Stapleton School of Dancing. All the hard work and coaching lessons they have taken part in have paid off and they have all achieved fantastic results.

"Next, the students that have just taken an exam will move up to the next grade and start to learn new routines and techniques that will extend their knowledge and challenge them. The students that didn't take an exam this time round will hopefully be ready for our next exam session in the Autumn.

“Our school prides itself on a warm, caring, family atmosphere that provides disciplined, quality education from its highly qualified and experienced staff.

“Understanding the importance of the individual, we strive to provide the best for each pupil.”
