A MAN has died after being hit by a train close to Yate railway station.
All train lines between Bristol Parkway and Cheltenham Spa are blocked after a man was hit by a train close to the railway station shortly before 2pm today.
The police and ambulance services attended the incident and it has has been confirmed that the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "We were called to the line close to Yate railway station at 1.53pm on Thursday, 25 June, after a report of a person struck by a train.
“A man was pronounced dead at the scene and officers are now working to identify the man and inform his family.
"The incident is currently not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
Just after 2pm, First Great Western posted on social media: "Due to a person being hit by a train between Bristol Parkway and Cheltenham Spa all lines are blocked."
They also revealed that train replacement coaches have been requested to transport passengers between Bristol Parkway and Gloucester.
