A DAY nursery is celebrating its ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report in Westerleigh.

Cornerways Day Nursery, situated in landscaped grounds at the end of the village, was inspected by Ofsted on May 14 and given an ‘outstanding’ result, the highest possible grade.

The nursery, which has 58 children on roll aged between two and eight-years-old, was told its children have ‘very strong relationships with staff’ and are ‘emotionally secure because staff respect and care very well for their individual needs.’

The nursery’s rooms, equipment and outside areas were all seen to provide exciting learning opportunities for children of all ages which ‘encourages them to take risks, experiment, explore and investigate.’

Owner and manager Sue Harrison said: “We are delighted to tell everyone that we achieved 'outstanding' in our recent inspection.

"This grade is only achieved by seven percent of Early Years settings, so we are very proud of this result.

“We particularly liked the report saying our care practices are excellent because the staff know the children extremely well, and that our children make excellent progress and the long-standing team work extremely well together.

“Getting an 'outstanding' Ofsted is really the icing on the cake. We are all really proud and pleased that our lovely nursery has been awarded this grading.

“Everyone says the recognition it gives makes all our hard work worthwhile.”

The nursery has improved since its last inspection in June 2011, when it received a ‘good’ result.
