NO action will be taken against the driver of a car which was in collision with a child in Yate at the weekend.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has confirmed it will not be prosecuting the female driver of the car involved in the accident on Cranleigh Court Road on Sunday.

An eight-year-old boy was injured in the collision, which happened at around 3.30pm.

Although an air ambulance landed in the car park of the nearby Indesit factory, the child was taken to the Bristol Royal Infirmary by road ambulance and was treated for a broken leg and cuts and bruises.

A police spokesman said: "No action will be taken against the driver.

"The accident happened within a 20mph zone and the driver was not exceeding that speed and was driving appropriately.

"We have notified the family of the child and they are happy with that."

Cranleigh Court Road was closed for over an hour on Sunday while accident investigators examined the scene.
