FIRE crews have put out a coach which caught fire on the M4.

The 35-seater coach was 'well alight' when crews from Yate, Bath and Patchway reached the scene at 9.39pm last night (Saturday, September 19).

It happened on the westbound carriageway between junctions 18 and 19.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used three high pressure hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

The eastbound carriageway of the motorway was closed during the incident.

The fire service could not confirm whether anyone was injured in the fire.
