FUNDRAISERS are looking for volunteers to experience a close shave in aid of charity.

Yate father and daughter Sarah Hitchings and Jerry Milner, who owns CAMB Machine Knives in Yate, are looking for willing participants to have their heads shaved in aid of The Grand Appeal children’s cancer unit.

The family sponsored a Shaun the Sheep, which is raising money for the appeal, during the Bristol city trail this summer. They paid for the Shaunus Romanus sculpture in ?? park having sponsored Sir Gromit in the Gromit Unleashed trail in aid of the same charity in 2013.

But they wanted to raise more money themselves and are holding a charity event, called The Big Shaun, at The George Hotel in Chipping Sodbury on Sunday, October 4 (3-6pm).

Sarah, from Yate, said: “The Big Shaun is basically a sponsored haircut challenge to raise money for the children's cancer unit. My friend, Shaun Burgham-Wilson, is a hairdresser and this of course ties in well.”

She said anyone looking to have their hair shaved off should arrive early as Shaun plans to try and cut as many people’s hair in an hour as possible.

”We need help to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic local children's charity,” she said.

“Who is brave enough to have their hair shaven off? We are looking for anyone male, female, young, old with long or short hair.

“We are looking for people to get themselves sponsored to take all their hair off and also for Shaun to get sponsored for how many he can do in an hour.

“So who will brave the Shaun?”
