YATE marathon man Clive Daniels has toppled the £200,000 fundraising mark in his 70th year.
Stalwart charity runner Clive, of The Glen, has now raised a total of £206,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in 19 years of taking part in marathons, half marathons and 10km races.
The 69-year-old achieved his milestone total after raising £15,000 in sponsorship for this year’s Bristol Half Marathon which he completed on September 13 in two hours and 26 minutes.
Clive said: “This brings my total raised for Macmillan to £206,000 in 19 years.
“I would like to thank the shops, businesses and households in Yate and Chipping Sodbury for their support through sponsoring me yet again. I have around 1,400 regular sponsors.”
He said he may make his 20th event in his 70th year his last.
“We are all getting older and I am obviously slowing up,” said Clive. “My times are nothing like they used to be and I have had a few niggles and a slight knee injury.
“I have shaken that off and I consider myself lucky to be able to keep running but I think I will probably make next year my last one.”
