THE countdown to Christmas will be launched in Abbotswood Shopping Centre with an evening of fun and free festive entertainment.
Abbotswood Action Group is organising the event, on Saturday, November 28 (4pm), for only the second time in a bid to improve community relations and promote the Yate centre.
Activities will include a Christmas fair within St Nicholas Church, Westerleigh Parish Band performing in the shopping centre, a visit from Father Christmas and performances by Abbotswood and Wellesley primary school choirs. Police and Avon Fire and Rescue Service vehicles will also be parked in the shopping centre.
The event will be brought to a close with a Christmas lights switch on by Yate mayor Cllr Tony Davis and Father Christmas at 6pm.
