A WOMAN and child have been in a collision with a car on Chipping Sodbury High Street.

The accident happened near the junction with Hounds Road at 9.30am this morning.

Police said it was not believed either the woman or child were seriously injured in the accident but both had received treatment from paramedics.

Two ambulance and two police cars were called to the scene of the accident and the High Street was partially blocked this morning.

The junction with Hounds Road, which leads to St John's Mead Primary School, has been the subject of a road safety campaign led by parents who have called for Hounds Road to be pedestrianised amid safety fears.

As part of a wider road safety scheme across Chipping Sodbury, two speed tables are due to be built on Hounds Road.
