THE two men who died after their car plumeted into a canal in Bristol have been named.
Adam John Clifford, 31, from Bristol and Andrew Richard Sigley, 40, from Weston-super-Mare, died in the incident on Feeder Road, Bristol.
It happened shortly before 6pm on Sunday (January 24) when the car, driving from the direction of Short Street, failed to stop on Feeder Road and drove into the canal.
A man, 55, and a 27-year-old woman jumped into the freezing cold water to try and save the men but they themselves ended up having to be rescued.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset police said: "Before we arrived on the scene, two members of the public jumped into the canal to try and save the two men.
"Sadly, the driver and passenger of the vehicle both died at the scene.
"Our thoughts are with the families of both men."
The police investigation is continuing and anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet come forward is asked to call 101.
