A DANCE school in Yate has seen all 48 of its students who took exams pass with the highest of marks.

Stapleton School of Dancing, based at Ridgewood Community Centre, entered children aged between five and 18 into exams in ballet, modern, tap and jazz in November and December.

After a long wait over Christmas and the New Year, the results were finally revealed with every single student receiving a grade higher than a pass rate.

In all, 17 children were given a distinction and 23 received merits. Eight of the youngest pupils had their very first experience of a ballet exam by taking the RAD Class Award.

School principal Amy Norcombe said she was thrilled with the results, her second set since taking over Stapleton two years ago.

“I am over the moon with them,” she said. “I am especially pleased to have all merits and distinctions.

“The students all worked so hard to achieve these results and I am very proud of them.”

Eighteen-year-old Asha Martineau-Brown took her Advanced 2 tap exam, the highest possible assessment in tap, and gained a very high distinction.

Stapleton, which was founded in 1942, is launching new Saturday morning ballet classes for children aged from two-and-a-half from Saturday, February 20.
