HUNDREDS of people are expected to descend on the village green in Iron Acton this Bank Holiday Monday, May 2 (10am-4pm) for the annual spring celebration.
The May Day event, the biggest in the village calendar, includes a packed line-up of local acts in the show ring with music from bands The Diagnostics and Westerleigh Brass Band, traditional fairground rides and vintage vehicles. There will be an assortment of stalls selling local produce, crafts and gifts and the PlayBus will be parked up for children to children. .
This year’s May Queen is Isabel Webster and her King is Todd Frise, who both attend Iron Acton Primary School. Attendants are Emily McPartland, of North Road Primary School, and Tilly Tillotson and Iris Parker, of Iron Acton school with Page boy Jack Gray, from North Road school. The May Day royalty will be crowned by Iron Acton Primary School head teacher Mike Riches at 10.45am.
Organiser Annie King said: “Do please come along and join in the festivities.
“The atmosphere is always great, particularly if the sun shines and it is wonderful to continue this time honoured tradition of celebrating May Day.”
