A MOTHER and daughter from Thornbury have been campaigning in Cribbs Causeway this weekend to raise awareness of ME and raising money for charity.

Liz Wood, and her daughter Helen, who suffers with the condition causing chronic fatigue, set up a stall in The Mall to speak to as many people as possible during this year’s ME Awareness Week, which has been running from Wednesday, May 11, to Tuesday, May 17.

“The people that mainly came up to us were people that either suffered from ME themselves, or had a loved one who suffered,” said Liz.

“Many people out there have no real idea what ME is, so our work to highlight it every year in the way we do it has to be worth it.”

The pair were also collecting for the ME Association, who support research into the condition, as well as information, education and support to those that suffer with the condition.

“We didn’t raise quite as much money as we hoped, only £45 in total, but what we have is better than nothing.

“We are hoping our next ME collection at Tesco in Yate on Saturday, June 4, will do better.”
