A TESCO store which was forced to close when thieves blew up an outside cash machine has today reopened.

Tesco Express, on Station Road in Yate, reopened at lunchtime following the attack last Wednesday (May 11).

Residents reported hearing loud bangs 'like fireworks exploding' when the cashpoint exploded at 3.30am.

Thieves are believed to have made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and extensive damage was caused to the shopfront.

Hoardings remain in place around the side of the convenience store, which opens seven days a week until 11pm.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man on Friday (May 13) in connection with a series of attacks on cash machines throughout the region.
