POLICE are appealing for the public’s help after thieves stole a large quantity of lead from a property in Badminton.

It happened overnight between Bank Holiday Monday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 3 in Burton Road.

The large amount of lead had already been stripped from the roof of the property as part of renovation work and had been left covered and stored in a paddock area.

Police said initial enquiries found a white van with a 51 plate had been seen in the area near to the property during the day before the lead was taken.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said; “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in Burton Road on May 2 who may have seen the vehicle and have details of the occupants.

“We are particularly appealing to anyone who was attending the Badminton Horse Trials which were going on at the time.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police at Chipping Sodbury on 101, quoting reference 5216095142.
