A TRAIN carrying 240 passengers has hit a pile of bricks placed on the line near Chipping Sodbury.
No-one was injured in the incident, which happened this evening at around 8.30pm near Kingrove Lane.
The train was the 7.15pm Paddington to Swansea service.
British Transport Police are on the scene.
A spokesman said bricks were placed on the line 'by unknown persons'.
He said no-one was injured but the train had suffered damage. An engineer is on the scene checking the train before it is moved.
Wayne Smith, whose parents live nearby in Greenhayes, told the Gazette: "My parents live right by it. They were walking their dog when the police arrived.
"The train is now stuck as the braking system has been damaged."
He said his parents did not hear a bang when the train crashed into the bricks.
