ALMOST 200 classic cars will rev up in Chipping Sodbury High Street on Sunday, June 26 for an annual car run.

In total 190 pre-1991 vehicles have registered for the 18th classic car run, organised by Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club, which will see some drivers dress up and decorate their cars.

Spectators are expected to line High Street and Broad Street to watch the drivers gear up for the 80-mile trip, with commentary on each vehicle provided by local auctioneer and Rotarian Nick Cragg.

Photographs of each car will be taken as a keepsake for the drivers and discretionary prizes for the best vehicle and best dressed car will be given out at a lunch stop later in the day.

Mr Cragg said: “We have a good number of cars registered and this year they will be leaving via Hounds Road for a change.

“Every year the route is different and this year it will go into Wiltshire with a coffee stop and lunch stop manned by Rotary volunteers.”

He added: “We are asking people in Chipping Sodbury for their co-operation on Saturday night not to park their cars in the High Street and Broad Street to allow 200 cars to leave on Sunday morning.”

Cars will start leaving Chipping Sodbury from 8.45am and a staggered start will take up until 11am. Drivers will finish the route at Westonbirt School where there will be a buffet lunch and bar.

Most raised will go to Rotary charities and good causes.
