ONLY one week remains for residents in South Gloucestershire to take part in a consultation on new dementia and falls prevention services in the county.

With the consultation set to end on Friday, July 8, the South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group are appealing for residents to get involved and offer their opinions on how best Dementia Advisors and a Community Falls Service will work.

The dementia advisors will be provided through a partnership between the CCG, Sirona Care and the Alzheimer’s Society, offering support to those recently diagnosed with the condition and their families, but whose condition does not warrant specialist mental health or social care.

Meanwhile, the falls team will aim to reduce the number of falls amongst older people through communicating the risks they face and how best to improve rehabilitation.

Both teams will be starting work in September.

Also currently under consultation are three draft strategies, for which the two service changes form part of the aims.

The consultations for Falls Prevention and Bone Health Strategy, Dementia Strategy, and Understanding and supporting the needs of carers: The Carers Strategy, run until August 22.
