LOSING a close family member can shake the world of even the strongest of us, but if that loss comes with the shock of losing your childhood home, that is something else entirely.
For Kerry-Ann Caise, who happily lived in her house all her life before the untimely passing of her father, the stress of it all is intensified by her unfortunate disabilities.
The family also feel somewhat at a loss, not having much of a say in the chain of events that has followed, giving the regular people in the story even more of a sense of powerlessness.
But while Merlin have done nothing wrong at all in this instance, abiding by the law and ensuring that steps are taken to help Kerry-Ann find a new home, the stress that has been caused for both herself and her family highlights a fatal flow in the system.
Maybe it is time for the authorities to take a real look at how these people are correctly supported and what procedures need to be in place to ensure they go through as little stress as possible.
