PARTS of the A4174 ring road around Bristol will be closed over the weekend for resurfacing.
The work being carried out by South Gloucestershire Council will see the westbound carriageway between the Hambrook traffic lights and the Wick Wick roundabout from 8pm on Friday, to 6am on Monday.
The council say that the full closure of the carriageway for the work, which is part of the Challenge Fund project, is in order to as efficient as possible and to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses.
Mark King, South Gloucestershire Council’s head of street care and transport, said: “It’s important that we carry out this essential resurfacing work now, before the colder weather and the surface deteriorates any further.
“We are aware that some motorists had difficulties following the diversion route last weekend which resulted in traffic issues in the area.
“After reviewing our plans, we have now increased the amount of advanced warning and diversion signs around the closure, including outside of South Gloucestershire’s boundaries.
“We understand that this closure may cause some inconvenience and disruption, and we would like to apologise in advance and kindly ask for your patience whilst the works are taking place.”
