GETTING ill or injured at home is a terrible feeling, but when it happens abroad, it is substantially worse for everyone involved.
Lewis Evans’ holiday was meant to be fun, a chance for some time away from studies, but this accident made sure that wasn’t the case.
If nothing else, this story is a painful reminder that despite holidays are an escape from everyday life, they are not void of danger.
It is saddening to consider the traumatic experience that he has gone through, going from having fun one minute, to being in and out of consciousness in a strange place the next, fearing for his life.
The worry that his poor parents have had to endure as well is horrifying, having been blind sighted by such unthinkable news.
But seeing the speed with which the people in Thornbury and the surrounding area have rallied behind the family’s cause is incredible.
Seeing the amount they have contributed to someone that many of them haven’t even met is heart-warming and a true demonstration of what the community is about.
Our thoughts are with Lewis and his family and we look forward to hearing of his speedy recovery.
