A DANCE group from Chipping Sodbury has donated £1,800 to Southmead Hospital, raised from their latest dance shows.

Yasmin’s Fun Dance, which is celebrating its eighth year teaching children to dance, managed to raise the impressive sum for the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.

A cheque was presented at Chipping Sodbury School on September 26 to Adrian Brown from Southmead Hospital Charity.

The cause is close to the group’s heart, having been named after co-founder Lisa Carpenter’s daughter who sadly passed away four days after being born, but was cared for by staff at Southmead during her short life.

To date, more than £6,000 has been donated to the NICU by the group.

“We had a great time celebrating eight years of Yasmin’s fun dance at the shows,” said a spokeswoman from the group.

“Having started off with only four children, we have now grown to working with a wonderful 64 in regular attendance.

“We want to thank every parent who has given us the delight of meeting and teaching their child, we are happy they continue to appreciate what a special family they have helped us form.”
