MORE THAN £2,400 has been raised for a breast cancer charity from an event in Yate on Saturday

The Pink Ribbon charity event, which was held at the Yate Outdoor Sports Complex, featured a range of performances from entertainers and live music.

The fundraiser’s organiser Michelle Robinson, 37, said that she wanted to make a difference after her mother had had an operation to remove a cancerous lump in 2014.

Breast cancer has also affected both her grandmother and great-grandmother, and after her husband won the use of the sports hall at another fundraising event, the idea came almost naturally – with more than 100 tickets selling for the evening’s entertainment.

She said: "We wanted to do something worthwhile with the hall and we chose breast cancer because of my mum.

"She always thinks of other people before herself - she was helping me organise my wedding just two weeks after her surgery.

"I was overwhelmed by the support of everyone and it was great fun to see people letting their hair down."

The evening also featured a photo booth and a raffle donated by businesses from the area.

Paintballing tickets, which were on offer at the event are still available, with the proceeds set to go to the charity. To buy them, or to help the fundraising efforts by making a donation, contact Michelle on thepinkribboncharitynight@gmail.com
