A SOCIABLE tea dance for people with dementia is taking place on Wednesday.

They have been organised by the Alzheimer’s Society with support from South Gloucestershire Council and Chipping Sodbury’s Rotary Club.

Lynn Cross, services manager for Alzheimer’s Society in South Gloucestershire, said: “We’re really excited to be launching this new tea dance in Chipping Sodbury.

"Activities like this can make a huge difference to people’s sense of wellbeing, helping people keep fit, have fun and socialise.

"There are estimated to be more than 3,400 people living with dementia in South Gloucestershire. With the right support people can live well with the condition for a number of years.”

The tea dances include refreshments, an option to dance, and music that spans the decades.

The first dance will take place from 2-4pm on Wednesday, November 30, at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall, 57-59 Broad Street.

Further dances are scheduled for January 25 and March 29.
