DELIGHTFUL entertainment has been planned for this year’s Victorian Day which heralds the arrival of Christmas in Chipping Sodbury.

Volunteers work hard to make it a special day for families with lots of stalls and events – including shows, choirs and fairground rides - on the High Street and Broad Street.

The volunteer committee said: “It takes many volunteers to put this event together - and we are working to make this year’s event as successful as the previous years.

“We are excited to be have a wider selection of entertainment, which will go into the evening with the magic of the Christmas lights and snow machine.

“Following the tradition of previous years Father Christmas will be coming through the street on his sleigh at 7.15pm headed by a Scottish piper.”

Many people dress up in Victorian costume to enhance the atmosphere, whilst local shops and eateries open late to welcome visitors.

Businesses in Chipping Sodbury will be decorating their windows to the theme of several Christmas films.

A competition is running from December 2 – 17 where entrants name as many films as they can to win a gift token for Swagger gift shop.

Entry forms can be collected from the high street shops Swagger or Sodbury Florists.

The event takes place from 1pm-7.30pm on Saturday, December 3.
