A PHARMACY in Yate has been praised by the town’s MP Luke Hall for its efforts in providing care and advice to residents.

During a visit to Abbotswood Pharmacy, the Thornbury and Yate MP took part in a thorough discussion with pharmacist Ade Williams about their work to promote healthy living and the challenges which their industry faces.

Offering help with keeping fit, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the pharmacy focuses on educating about the dangers of drugs, smoking and the importance of staying active.

“'It was a great pleasure to meet Ade and the team at Abbottswood Pharmacy,” said Mr Hall.

“The work they have been involved with within the community is impressive, and as a Yate resident, I would like thank them for their work and support they provide to residents in Yate, particularly their advice on healthy living.

“My visit provided me with a clear insight into the issues facing local pharmacies such as Abbotswood, and I will be doing all I can to ensure the town and villages across South Gloucestershire receive the very best healthcare possible.”

Following the visit, pharmacist Ade Williams said: “It was a pleasure to have Luke Hall visit the pharmacy and we appreciate all his support.

“It is especially needed at a time when the government's imposed funding cuts to local pharmacies means small independents like ourselves are facing the threat of closure or having to scale back our ambitions of providing the much needed innovative services to help the NHS cope with all the challenges it faces in the foreseeable future.”
