REPORTS of a loud explosion sound and bright flash in Yate on Friday night were not the result of a bin fire as originally reported.
Residents took to social media to try to find answers, with a number in the Kingsgate area even reporting their houses shaking from the incident.
Information provided to the Gazette by Avon Fire and Rescue Service had suggested the cause to be a rubbish fire in Kingsgate Park, but this turned out to be incorrect, instead referring to an incident in Downend.
Crews from Yate were not dispatched following reports on social media.
Some have speculated that the incident may have been caused by fireworks being set off but this is to be confirmed.
