WAITING times at Bristol airport could soon be slashed with a £2.3 million project to enhance the immigration hall set to start on Monday.

The work, which is set to be completed by April, will see the number of passport control points increasing from the current ten to 17, including 10 ePassport gates.

Bristol Airport also say that the immigration hall will be enlarged and redesigned to be both more "welcoming" and "efficient".

During the next three months while the work is carried out, passengers will be unable to use the existing ePassport gates, which have been temporarily removed, and will be subject to conventional passport checks.

Alison Roberts from Bristol Airport said: “These new facilities will be in place for passengers from April onwards, in time for the busy summer holiday season and will make a big difference to the airport experience.

“In the meantime, we will be working closely with Border Force to keep any inconvenience to passengers during the improvement works to a minimum.”
