A DANCE group from South Gloucestershire have qualified for a European dance championship.

The street dance crew from Mangotsfield, called Dynamites from the VDance Academy, qualified after they were second place during an over 18’s advanced dance competition in Newport.

The academy’s under 14’s novice group called Dance Addix also made it through coming first in their category. Their dance school helped them to develop their winning choreography and dance moves to progress to competition standard.

At the competition on November 20, the two groups earned themselves a place at The European Championships in Germany this May, as well as the World Street dance Championship in Glasgow in August.

The UDO’s (United Dance Organisation) competition will see the groups face fierce competition from rivals from top quality dance groups across the world. It is the leading street dance organisation’s twelfth international competition to celebrate the greatest dance groups.

Parent Sarah Hitchings whose daughter Chloe dances with Dynamite said: “It is obviously an amazing opportunity for both dance crews and at the moment they are both frantically fundraising so they can at least attend Germany.

“Each crew needs £15,000, which is a tremendous amount of money to find, so they are also looking for any local companies or individuals to sponsor them.”

She has organised a sponsored walk event, of three or 10 miles, to help the dance crews to raise enough funds to compete.
