THE manager of Yate Shopping Centre will be cycling from Bristol to Paris to raise money for a charity that supports unwell children.

Andy Lowrey will cycle an incredible 430km over the course of a four day bike ride, starting on Friday, April 28.

The shopping centre manager will join around 60 cyclists who are raising funds for Above and Beyond, a charity that supports the Bristol Children’s Hospital.

Andy said: ”I have chosen this particular charity as I'm inspired by the work that Above & Beyond do, so I want to raise money for them as part of my participation in their Bristol to Paris Cycle Challenge 2017.

“All money raised by me through this challenge - and so far the sum stands at £1,725 - will go to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children's Major Trauma and Rehabilitation Unit.

“Donations will benefit hundreds of children from across the South West suffering from traumatic brain injuries, brain tumors, epilepsy and cerebral palsy.”

Over 40,000 children in the UK are admitted to hospital with severe brain injuries every year.

For many, hospital can become a home for months or even years.

Above and Beyond work to fund projects that will make the lives of unwell children and their families a little bit easier.

Money raised from the charity’s Bristol to Paris Cycle Challenge will be put towards building a rehabilitation kitchen and garden in the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children’s Major Trauma and Rehabilitation Unit.

The new kitchen will help children to re-learn the basic tasks of daily life, while an oasis garden will help provide a quiet, private space for families to spend time together.

Andy said: “That is why I have joined this challenge to help raise £100,000 for Above and Beyond.

“Please help me help them by giving whatever you can.”
