SOUTH Gloucestershire’s first ever “Eat Clean Fair” welcomed a staggering 800 visitors to Thornbury last weekend.
The event, which featured more than 70 exhibitors over two halls, promoted healthy living and gluten free foods at the day-long event in Thornbury Leisure Centre, with visitors coming from all over the country and even from France.
Stands ranged from food and drink, to well-being, beauty, fitness and health advice, with a number of major charities that support people with health issues also present.
Nutritionists and personal trainers were offering advice and support, with mini treatments, skincare and beauty products all being tested, with a wide range of hot foods, sweet treats and a wide selection of fresh and dried produce to take away.
Cllr Toby Savage, chairman of South Gloucestershire Council’s health scrutiny committee, kicked off the day by cutting the ribbon and welcoming people inside.
The event was organised by Yate-based Zumba instructors Jodie Horton-Stanley and Tracey Barron who want to encourage healthier eating in South Gloucestershire after experiencing the improvements themselves when they changed their diet.
Speaking to the Gazette, Jodie said: “There was such a great atmosphere and visitors loved the idea of having the variety of stands all under one roof, we can’t wait to do to all over again.”
Tracey added: “We’re so glad we can offer this opportunity to people with a dietary requirement or simply wanting to get some ideas on healthy eating.”
