A SHOOTING School in Chipping Sodbury has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.

Lady’s Wood Shooting School are in the running to be recognised as having the UK’s best shooting grounds as a part of the 2017 Shooting Industry Awards.

It is the second time they have been nominated for an award, which is organised by popular shooting website, Shooting UK.

Each category is judged by highly respected editors at top country sports magazines as well as experts from the world of shooting.

Chris Hanks, a manager and instructor at the shooting school, said that the entire Lady's Wood team is thrilled with the news.

He said: "Our aim has always been to be one of the finest shooting schools in the UK and ensure that everyone who visits us enjoys a friendly and convivial welcome and high quality instruction and experience.

"We are extremely proud to have been identified as one of the UK's top shooting schools and would like to thank our clients for their endorsements and our staff for all their hard work in getting us to this exciting stage."

In the Best Shooting Ground category, entrants are asked to provide evidence of how they provide a warm welcome to customers and accommodate newcomers as well as regulars.

Judging is based on quality of atmosphere, instruction and activities to introduce shooting, alongside new members and customer recommendations.

Each of the shortlisted businesses will be "mystery shopped" and the overall winner from the six finalists will be announced on May 11 at an industry dinner and awards ceremony.
