THREE siblings from Chipping Sodbury have struck gold at the national championships in martial art Tang Soo Do.
Ben, Jack and Amy Humphries joined 20 other students from Chipping Sodbury Tang Soo Do at the event in Coventry on May 6, returning with four golds between them, with almost all members of the club also placing with a selection of silvers and bronze medals.
Ben, 13, a Chipping Sodbury School pupil, and 11-year-old brother Jack, took the titles for forms in their age classes, having both been in the club for around six years.
Jack and Amy 7, who are both at Rayesfield Primary School, then claimed gold in the sparring class, made all the more impressive by the fact that Amy has only been in the sport for 18 months.
“Everyone from the club performed admirably at the national championships and did Chipping Sodbury proud.” said head instructor Paul Townsley. “To have almost everyone come back with a trophy is remarkable.”
“As a family, the Humphries are outstanding and have done really well since coming into the sport.
“They were very impressive at the national championships, especially Amy given her age and the little time she has been with us.
“Next stop is the Europeans, and it will be onwards and upwards for the three of them!”
