A CYCLING club in Chipping Sodbury is appealing for non-members to join their weekly bike rides.

Sodbury Cycle Sport host 50 mile bike rides every Sunday, with the group leaving from the high street clock tower at 9am.

They normally have two rides each week - one for people with more experience and another that is at a steadier pace.

Chairman Keith Hanson said: "A lot of people ride their bikes by themselves, so this is a chance to join with others and to learn how to ride as part of a group.

"It's a great way to meet people and make cycling a social activity.

"We normally go quite fast but we are also doing a slightly slower bike ride to encourage people who haven't cycled as a group before to try it out."

Members of the group are gearing up for this year’s Sodbury Sportive, a charity fundraising event organised by the Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury that offers participants the choice of three routes to ride – 30, 60 and 100 miles.

This year’s Sodbury Sportive takes place on Sunday, August 13.

People can find details of Sodbury Cycle Sport on Facebook under the group's name.
