RETROSPECTIVE planning permission for a car wash in Yate has been granted.
Residents had raised concerns about several issues associated with the development in the Old Station Yard, on Station Road, including noise levels, vehicle movements, drainage and hours of operation.
Councillor Ruth Davis had referred the application to the planning committee to allow its members to consider the impact of the car wash upon neighbouring properties.
Permission was granted, dependent on certain conditions being fulfilled.
These included limiting the business's opening hours, and the addition of an acoustic fence to reduce the noise impact.
Given the conditions being imposed, Cllr Davis was satisfied that residents' concerns had been addressed.
The car wash provides employment for four people, and this was noted as being important for the community.
A South Gloucestershire Council spokesperson said: "The application was unanimously approved by the committee, as per the officer recommendation and including the conditions as set out in the officer report."
