STAFF at an opticians in Yate donned denim and made cakes in aid of charity last week.
Workers at Specsavers spent Friday, September 22 fundraising for the national Jeans for Genes Day campaign, which raises funds for the UK Children’s Charity Genetic Disorder UK.
Based at their branch at 19 North Walk, Yate, the team raised over £100 by making donations to wear jeans to work and holding a cake sale in store.
Store director, Jane Morgan, said: "Jeans for Genes Day is a great opportunity to have some fun in store and raise money for a great cause.
"This year we strongly encouraged the local community to come along and get involved. Whether they were wearing jeans or not, it was lovely to see lots of people walking through the door and enjoying baked goods on the day."
Jeans for Genes Day saw people across the country wearing jeans to work and school, to raise awareness and money in support of individuals and families affected by genetic disorders.
It is estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. There are more than half a million people in the UK currently suffering from a genetic disorder and thousands of babies and children are newly diagnosed every year.
