TWO South Gloucestershire neighbours were stunned when they each scooped £30,000 with People’s Postcode Lottery for the second time in just seven months.

Nicholas Urch, 51, and Glenn Collins, 52, live just a few doors apart in Patchway. In March, their postcode was drawn in the weekly Street Prize and both were thrilled to collect a cheque for £30,000 from People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador Danyl Johnson.

On Sunday (October 15), the lucky postcode BS34 5EN was visited once again by ambassador Danyl. This time they were joined by three more of their neighbours who had signed up since the last win.

Nicholas said: “I am absolutely gobsmacked and flabbergasted. When I got a call from the team I assumed it was a follow-up call, and even when they told me I’d won another prize, I didn’t expect it to be as much as last time.

“The money has helped me a lot with doing up the house, and I also treated myself and my brother to a holiday to Spain. Now that I’ve won again, I think we’ll go somewhere further afield – we’re thinking Vietnam.”

Glenn said: “You never think you’re going to win such a big prize – never mind twice. My wife Jane and I have been away on an incredible trip to Niagara Falls and New York since we won our prize the first time, and I think we might go on a Caribbean cruise next. It’s amazing to be able to do it.

“We also got a conservatory put on the house with the money from the last win – it’s still in the process of being built which shows how recently it was. I’m delighted that more of our neighbours have joined and are now celebrating with us too.”

Glenn and Nicholas were joined in winning this time by three more of their neighbours: Steven Hirst, 34, Kayleigh Dybowski, 27, and Elaine Newton, 62.

Danyl Johnson, People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador, said: “I cannot believe I’m back in the same street in Patchway so soon. It just goes to show, it is worth signing up even if your postcode has had a big win recently – you never know when we’ll be back with more cheques.”

A minimum of 31 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £237 million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A cause local to the lucky winners which has received support from players is the Keynsham Wombles. The charity was awarded £2,000 last year for an environmental project, aiming to keep the area free from litter to protect wildlife.
