AN AIR Ambulance charity which operates across Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire has launched a range of stocking fillers to help raise funds this Christmas.

Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) range of gifts, which can be purchased on their website, range from teddy bears and colouring books to diaries and model helicopters.

The charity, based in Filton, helps to save lives across the region with its helicopter and two rapid response vehicles, focusing on getting their critical care team to the scene of an incident as quickly and effectively as possible.

In 2015 the critical care team attended 1,655 jobs, and it is estimated one in five people who would otherwise die are saved by their actions.

A GWAAC spokeswoman said: “From fundraisers to highly skilled pilots, paramedics and senior consultants, we are a team, working to save lives that would otherwise be lost.

“We receive no day to day funding from the Government or the National Lottery. That means we rely entirely on the generosity of the people we serve to raise the £2.6million we need a year to stay operational.”
