WE would like to thank everyone who has helped us to raise an amazing £12,000 since last April. With the end of financial year March 31 we are hoping to exceed £13,000 by that date.

Special thanks to Graham and Sue Hawkes who decorate their house and garden each year for Christmas time and gave a most generous donation.

We held our usual fundraising events and collections to raise our money with special thanks to the Garden Centres at Wyevale and Almondsbury and to Tesco for their continued support. Our events are very friendly social occasions and enjoyed by all those that attend.

One week ago we held our Winter Warmer Lunch and 51 people sat down to cottage pie, crumble, coffee and an after lunch quiz.

Severnside Support Group are supporting the Room to Care Appeal, the on site work at the Brentry Hospice commenced in September 2017 and will be completed by October 2018. This will enable every patient their own room and make the stay more comfortable for patients, families and friends.

The fundraising total required was £6.53million of which the Hospice set aside £4million, leaving a shortfall of £2.53million.

To date that figure thanks to the generosity of so many is £700,000 short, with eight months to go.

2018 also sees the 40th anniversary of the Hospice, a much needed facility within our own area, both for in patient stay and for Hospice at Home nursing. It is the only adult Hospice for Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset, and supports a population of almost one million people. It costs £18,000 a day to run the Hospice.

If you can help in any way what so ever with the appeal please contact Petra Littlefair on 01275 391400, or visit the Hospice website.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us so far in achieving the aim of Room to Care, we are most grateful.
