HOMES across Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire shook this afternoon as the region was hit with a 4.4 magnitude earthquake.
Residents took to social media after feeling the shake as windows and even whole buildings felt the vibrations, with reports coming from across the region South West and Wales region.
According to seismic measuring website emsc-csem.org, the origin of the quake was in Neath, near Swansea.

According to Western Power Distribution, a number of homes were left without power, including 921 in the Chipping Sodbury area, but service has since been restored to most of the addresses.
The British Geological Survey has confirmed the epicentre was around 20km outside of Swansea, with a magnitude of 4.4.
They said that events of this magnitude only occur in the UK every two-to-three years.
