AN AUCTION in Chipping Sodbury could give lucky bidders the chance to drive a Morgan sports car for the weekend, a day out on a motorboat or a VIP day out at the races.

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury, will take place in May in aid of the Southmead Prostate Cancer Care Appeal.

Another exciting experience that can be won is a private tour of Chavenage House, the privately owned 17th Century country manor house in Gloucestershire that has been used as the location for the Poldark family home in the popular TV series.

Other lots up for bids include an autographed cricket bat signed by Sir Ian Botham, a unique signed cartoon print by Gerald Scarfe CBE, a fly fishing lesson and a bottle of champagne and flutes donated by Prince Charles.

The Prostate Cancer Care Appeal aims to raise £2million for new robotic surgical equipment at the hospital.

Rotary Club President John Berridge said: “Surgeons at Southmead Hospital are regional, national and European leaders in robotic surgery and this cutting edge treatment will improve facilities for generations to come.

“Thanks to these very generous donations our aim is to raise as much money as we can.

“With this in mind, we’ll be pleased to welcome anyone along on the night - provided that they bring a cheque book with them”.

A list of the items to be auctioned can be seen by visiting www.chippingsodburyrotary.co.uk and is updated regularly.

Tickets are £12.50 each, to include a sausage and mash supper, which are available from Country Property in Broad Street, Chipping Sodbury, or by calling 01454 321339.
