A CHIPPING Sodbury dog trainer has launched a new online service to help those who can’t get to her classes.
Caroline Wilkinson’s business Ruff Hounds provides positive reward-based dog training in Chipping Sodbury and Bath.
The Ruff Hounds programme includes puppy socialisation and training classes, one-to-one dog training, and even dog yoga.
"Dog yoga is a new programme of training that works on improving both the physical and emotional well-being of dogs," said Caroline.
"It introduces calm behaviours and looks to improve a dog’s dog to dog communication skills.
"It's perfect for springy springers, boisterous bully breeds and chatty chihuahuas."
Caroline, who has been running the business for five years, found that some dog owners were unable to attend her evening sessions, and others were disappointed when her classes became fully booked.
"I was finding that people with young children were unable to make it along to the evening classes,” she said.
“So I decided to create an online version of my training programme.
“It’s such an exciting move for me and means I can help even more owners.”
To access the service, people will pay a one-off fee, which gives them access to the online course, plus ongoing support.
Caroline first became interested in training nine years ago, when she was living in Canada.
"I started a training class with my then puppy and fell in love with it - I couldn't get enough," she said.
Caroline went on to become a qualified dog trainer and member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
She is also a certified Real Dog Yoga practitioner, a member of the Dog Welfare Alliance and the Pet Professional Guild.
"I am a certified canine first responder too – trained to be able to provide immediate first aid for a sick or injured dog until we can get them to a vet," she said.
Caroline, who shares her home with two basset hounds, Ezri and Chester, is also responsible for ‘Grufts’, an annual dog show which is held in Chipping Sodbury. This year’s event, the fourth, is set to take place on on July 1.
