THE Sodbury Players are celebrating after winning both the Avon and Bristol One Act Drama Festivals.
The youth group entry, Bodas De Sangre (Blood Wedding) by Federico García Lorca, came first in both festivals and the Sodbury Players' youth section will now go forward to represent the Avon Association of Drama at the quarter finals.
Richard Cottle who appeared in the Sodbury Players other entry, Custard in Disinfectant by Jim Pinnock, scooped best actor and best supporting actor awards at both festivals.
Ross Brown, director of Blood Wedding, and youth section leader, said: "We have such a talented youth group and it has been brilliant to give them the chance to shine at the festivals, especially against such great competition.
"I’m really proud of all of their hard work and dedication.”
The next round for the Wessex division of the All England One Act Drama festival is being held at the Olympus Theatre, South Gloucestershire and Stroud College, on April 7.
