BRIMSHAM Green School students put their job application skills to the test, at a mock interview event.

Prior to the session, 170 Year 11 students prepared a CV and letter of application, which they then sent to participating members of the business community.

This followed a series of PSHE lessons, in which interview techniques, appropriate attire, and a list of general interview questions were discussed.

At the end of their interviews, students received written feedback on how they came across, both in person and through their written application and letter.

They were also offered helpful hints and tips for the future.

Interviewer Ian Mynett, from the Yate based British Engineering Manufacturers Association (BEMA) said that he found the students to be very employable.

Natalie Zullo, of SGS College said: "I’ve seen some really good students, and most have a clear idea about what they would like to do in the future, which is great."

Jack Chami, of Willmott Dixon said: "The students were great.

"I was impressed by how rounded some of them were, I don’t remember myself being as rounded at their age.

"They were all very polite and a pleasure to interview, a credit to the school."

Asha Jones, of the Premier Inn said: "I was impressed with the preparation work done for their interviews.

"The level of confidence was high and the students had made a great effort in their preparation."
