A SECTION of the ring road at Bromley Heath Viaduct will close next weekend for works to be carried out.

The A4174 from the Wick roundabout to the Hambrook traffic lights will close for four days, from Friday, April 27, whilst the contraflow system on the Bromley Heath Viaduct is removed.

The closure will take effect from 8pm on Friday, April 27 and will remain in place until 6am on Monday, April 30, when both carriageways over the viaduct will reopen.

Diversion routes will be signed and details of these will also be added to the Bromley Heath Viaduct webpage southglos.gov.uk/bhviaduct

All traffic signal movements on the A4174 will be reverted to their original settings from before the viaduct work started and all ring road lane movements will be reinstated over the course of the weekend.

Cllr Colin Hunt, cabinet member for transport said: “We’re pleased that this major engineering project is coming to an end and that the viaduct has been made fit for the future and now features a greatly improved shared footpath for cyclists and pedestrians.

“To safely remove the contraflow we need to fully close the ring road over the weekend of April 27 and we apologise for any inconvenience caused during this closure.

"Whilst this section of the A4174 ring road is closed to traffic, we will also be taking the opportunity to carry out some additional maintenance work in the area, including work to the northern viaduct, drainage works, and resurfacing.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation throughout this essential maintenance and improvement work.”
