RESIDENTS from Frampton Cotterell were treated to an inside look at the heart of government during a tour of Parliament organised by MP Luke Hall.

The group travelled by coach last Monday from the village straight to the Houses of Parliament, where they received a fully guided tour of both the House of Lords and House of Commons.

The village tours initiative, led by the MP, encourages constituents across the Thornbury and Yate area to nominate their villages to take part.

This is the fourth village trip organised by Mr Hall for Frampton Cotterell residents, meaning that almost 200 village residents have had the opportunity to visit Westminster.

After the trip to the two houses, the villagers were also given the chance to visit less public places within Westminster, including the Queen’s robing room, the Royal Portrait Gallery, the central lobby, Westminster Hall and St Stephen’s Hall.

Following a trip to the gift shop and the Jubilee Café next to Westminster Hall, Mr Hall met with the group in a committee rooms, where he gave a talk and then answered questions. Residents quizzed the MP on issues including university funding, the use of plastics in supermarkets, and speeding within and around Frampton Cotterell.

Mr Hall said: “I was delighted to welcome my fourth coach of Frampton Cotterell residents to Parliament.

"I really would like to encourage anyone who is interested in these Tours of Parliament to nominate their local area, by getting in touch with my office.”
