A CHIPPING Sodbury sausage maker has sizzled at a regional awards ceremony for the second year running.

Kimberley Daniels proved she can still make the best bangers in town after picking up the Young Sausage Maker of the Year award at the BPEX Regional Roadshow of Meat Product Excellence.

Kimberley, 22, has been experimenting with ingredients to create her very own recipes for sizzling strings of sausages since she started learning butchery at Artingstall’s in High Street.

"I was really surprised by the results," said the young chef. "I like being inventive and enjoy cooking so I just think what would I like to eat and then come up with different ideas."

In total, Kimberley won four golds at the awards ceremony in Exeter. She entered her Italian-inspired sausage recipe, a traditional pork classic banger and a stilton and Guiness combination which won in both the specialilty pork and young sausage maker categorie Kimberley, who started her career at Artingstall’s as a part-time washing up assistant, trained for an apprenticeship in butchery at Hartpury College.

Last year she won the same award and was also voted champion of champions, going on to compete for the title of best young sausage maker in the country.

Added Kimberley: "I really enjoy it. And at the awards ceremony this year I got to meet quite a few experts which was a really good experience."
