Bristol City fans' panel: Views on defeats to Huddersfield and Birmingham
ANOTHER week and another two defeats on the road for Bristol City.
The results continue a terrible run of form endured by City since the beginning of October.
In our last nine games we have taken just two points, and have now lost six games on the trot.
From scoring a shed load of goals in the early part of the season, the goals have now dried up. We’ve scored just once in our last three games.
It seems McInnes has attempted to stop the glut of goals we’ve been conceding by shutting up shop. But defensively we are still fragile as the 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield and 2-0 defeat to Birmingham prove.
After Tuesday night’s defeat at Birmingham there was further bad news as it became clear that loan defender McManus had suffered a likely cruciate injury which could rule him out for the season.
In addition midfielder Cole Skuse could miss up to eight weeks. Our injury list this season has been horrendous, and I can’t blame McInnes for that.
But some of his team selections worry me and by and large we have looked a poor team at this level for the entirety of his reign in charge at the club.
The only time we put together a run of any note was at the tail end of last season when the players finally realised they had to fight for their lives in order for us to stay up.
I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that Sunday’s home game against Charlton is a must-win.
The Londoners are six points ahead of us in the league table and are probably one of the weaker sides in the league, along with us.
McInnes has to regain the trust of supporters quickly, or there could be tough times ahead for the Scotsman.
