MICHAEL KLINGER said the opportunity to join Gloucestershire as their new captain was too good to turn down.

The 32-year-old Australian has signed a two-year contract with the club.

He said: “I'm delighted to have signed for Gloucestershire Cricket for 2013 and 2014.

“My long term ambition has been to play a full season of county cricket and as soon as I spoke to John Bracewell, it was clear that the opportunity to join Gloucestershire was too good to turn down.

“Joining as club captain is a huge honour for me and the challenge is one that excites me greatly.

“The squad is a young but talented one with some experienced heads and I look forward to bringing the experience I have gained around the world in the likes of state cricket, Big Bash, IPL and Champions’ League to the squad.

“I can't wait to join up with the guys in April and I hope we enjoy a successful season in 2013.”
