KINGSWOOD have postponed their County League game against Berkeley Town this Saturday after the shock death of reserve team player Mike Rodman during a local derby.

The 37-year-old was player-manager of the reserve side in Stroud and District Football League Division Two and collapsed just ten minutes into their league game at home to Charfield last Saturday after suffering a heart attack.

‘Raj’, as he was known, made over 200 appearances for the club and played a key role in helping them reach the County League for the first time in their history.

He also played for Wotton Rovers, who released a statement to the Gazette saying: “Wotton Rovers would like to express their extreme sadness at the passing away of former player Mike ‘Raj’ Rodman. Our thoughts are with all of Mike’s family, friends and Kingswood AFC during these tough times.”
